Obi Toppin‘s position in the Knicks is yet to be defined. Toppin did not have the chance to show his full potential, and this is because he is not a starter. There’s no guarantee he’ll blossom into something great, but it would still be nice to know before decisions are made about his future.
At the end of last season, Toppin showed his potential during Julius Randle‘s absence. In fact, Toppin was trapped behind Randle and only managed to show off with the absence of the former All-Star.
What should the Knicks do with Toppin?
Many fans would prefer to see Toppin stay with the Knicks. If the Knicks see Toppin as a potential centerpiece of the team then the Knicks must hold him back and try to get the player to coexist with Randle.
In fact, depriving himself of Randle would be wrong on the part of the Knicks. The team would get a lot worse, despite Randle’s last season being very disappointing.
The Knicks need to change their roster as little as possible and both Toppin and Randle deserve to stay in New York.
