The murmurs about Joel Embiid’s landing to the Knicks do not subside

After Joel Embiid made headlines by saying he wants to win a championship, with Philadelphia or “whoever,” ESPN’s Zach Lowe and Dave McMenamin spoke about Embiid’s future on another team.

McMenamin’s choice for the big man’s new home is just a ride away on the Amtrak train.

“I intend to line up the Acela Express and send it to New York,” McMenamin said in an episode of Lowe’s podcast The Lowe Post.

“That’s what the murmurs were. [Lowe] said New York, we’ve all heard New York, we know the connection between Leon Rose and Joel Embiid.

“We also know, frankly, that Daryl Morey has found himself in a situation that was largely prepared before him and that he will continue to build that team the way he wants it to be.

“And Joel Embiid, now that he has the reigning MVP stamp on his resume, should push for the urgent right now window to exist for Philadelphia”.

Embiid has been tied up in New York for months largely due to Rose, the Knicks president, who was formerly Embiid’s agent.

The Knicks have consistently built a winning culture under Rose.

Last season, the team made it to the Eastern Conference Semifinals behind guard Jalen Brunson and forward Julius Randle, and adding Embiid to that mix could make New York a real contender.

With the Knicks owning 11 first-round picks between 2024 and 2030, they likely have the resources to be a player for Embiid should he ask out of Philadelphia.

A six-time All-Star, Embiid averaged a league-best 33.1 points last season to go along with 10.2 rebounds per night.
