The Knicks want to extend the contract of a key player

The Knicks are working hard to keep Immanuel Quickley in New York.

According to Fred Katz, the Knicks are attempting to create an extension for Quickley.

“Based on conversations I’ve had with knowledgeable people, there is optimism that a deal can be done,” Katz said, via Jonathan Macri.

As of July 1, Quickley has the right to sign the extension but there have been few talks with the Knicks. Quickley probably wants a big contract, which is why it looks like the Knicks are taking a break. However, it seems that both parties are inclined to sign the new agreement. The Knicks will have to spend a significant amount, but a deal is close.
