The Knicks could actually trade Obi Toppin. Much will depend on the future of Julius Randle. If the All-Star stays in New York, there will be even less room for Toppin in Thibodeau’s rotations. A situation that has become intolerable for Toppin who gave vent to his malaise in game 4 of the playoffs leading to an argument with Thibodeau.
At the same time, Toppin can still sign his contract extension, or he will become a limited free agent next season. The Knicks consider what to do, Toppin could be placed in a package to get one of the many stars accosted to the Knicks Paul George, Karl-Anthony Towns, Zach LaVine, Jaylen Brown or other players of this level.
