The Knicks have a better chance this season to compete for a place in the playoffs. And Tom Thibodeau hopes his club will benefit from the new format.
The league has adopted the play-in structure for 2020-21, which means that the No. 7-10 in each conference will hold an Italian-style tournament after the season. A place is guaranteed to seeded n. 7 or 8, so it’s really a competition between three teams for the final playoff position.
“I think it makes it interesting,” Thibodeau said. “Obviously where we are, we hope to have a chance. It’s something we have to work on”.
