Justin Holiday arrived at the Knicks in 2017 as a throw-in to Derrick Rose’s craft. Holiday became a solid role player in his single season in New York, averaging 7.7 points per game over 43-36-83 shooting ranges.

The front office changed at the end of the season and they decided they could find a replacement for Holiday elsewhere.

He bounced around the league for a while before making his resurgence with the Indiana Pacers last season, earning 8.3 points per game and shooting 40.5% off three. He has always been an exceptional defender, with great stamina, managing to reach 309 of the 319 possible games in the last four seasons.

After playing for four different teams in his first three seasons, Holiday has managed to find his niche as Knick. The 31-year-old free agent may have a soft spot for the team that helped his NBA career get back on track.

While it likely won’t change the course of the entire franchise, veteran sweet-shot RPGs are always a welcome addition to a young squad. Holidays can impact a game without having the ball in hand, a crucial attribute for a team often criticized for the lack of touches RJ Barrett received as a rookie.

The Knicks are desperate for more 3&D players, and they reportedly have Holiday on their radar. A return to New York could be beneficial to both parties.
