Knicks, fans return to making noise at Madison Square Garden

Eventually it happened. It took almost a year, but in the end we saw fans return to Madison Square Garden for a Knicks game on Tuesday night.

Even though the game didn’t go as the Knicks hoped, losing to the Golden State Warriors, 114-106, the atmosphere in the arena was something the team had been missing out on in home games throughout the season.

Cheers, boos and just about every noise from the 2,000 fans in attendance gave the game a different vibe, a feeling that had been lost in New York since their last home game on March 8, 2020. Just a week after that game, the NBA has suspended its season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Even the likes of Tracy Morgan and former Giants star Justin Tuck were able to bring MSG’s celebrity squabble back into the thick of things with their first appearances of the season.

“It was great,” said Tom Thibodeau after the match. “I know there were only 2,000 fans … but it’s great to have them back and we certainly appreciate their support”.
