Tom Thibodeau has high expectations for the team’s future stars.
Thibodeau spoke to the media on Tuesday about his expectations for Obi Toppin, which the Knicks scored with their eighth overall pick in November.
“We are really excited about him,” Thibodeau said. “He came in immediately. We followed him in his preparation for the draft. His energy, his skill set, his ability to shoot – I think offensively he’s as ready as a kid can be ready to enter the league.”
Thibodeau added that his defensive play has not yet arrived, but there is plenty of room for improvement.
“In defense, he has to learn, he has to grow, as most guys do. But we think he’s perfect for what we’re trying to do,” Thibodeau said.
