Thibodeau on RJ Barrett: “He has to get a winning mentality”

Thibodeau talked about last year’s third overall pick, RJ Barrett, who expressed his displeasure at what he thought was an affront to being named to the All-Rookie team.

“Usually when you win, you get recognized. So focus on the winning side and don’t attack, like, just score,” Thibodeau said. “I want him to be a well-rounded player. I want him to focus on his defense. His direction. I think the score will come. He has a big advantage for him.”

Thibodeau also challenged the 20-year-old to take a leadership role this season.

“How you train, how you behave every day. How selfless you are. Those are important parts of winning. And also figuring out when to shoot and when to pass. I think it’s a challenge for the whole team. And of course it’s an important part. of victory”, he said.
