The reasons why Gary Trent Jr. can be valuable for the Knicks

After an impressive season that saw them win their first playoff series since 2013, the New York Knicks will likely look to the coming summer months as a time in which they can attempt to bolster their talent pool and improve their odds of making even great levels of success in 2023-24 and beyond.

In the eyes of Bleacher Report’s Grant Hughes, the “top offseason priority” for Leon Rose and company should be to add a “knockdown shooter” to their arsenal. Although an oft-mentioned option for the Knicks has been Brooklyn Nets sniper Seth Curry, Hughes believes a guy like the Toronto Raptors’ Gary Trent Jr. could be a more well-rounded addition.

“Gary Trent Jr. wouldn’t offer the same historical level of accuracy as Curry, but he would make up for it in volume. GTJ, who can achieve free agency by turning down a player option with the Toronto Raptors, has hit at least 10.5 three-point attempts for every 100 possessions in each of the past three years,” Hughes wrote.
