The Knicks are in danger of losing Josh Hart

If the Knicks made it back to the playoffs and are now playing the series against the Heat much of the credit goes to Josh Hart, who arrived in New York midseason via a trade deal with the Portland Trail Blazers. Hart’s impact on the Knicks was fundamental and is there for all to see.

Josh Hart, however, could leave the Knicks this summer as a free agent. His current contract features a player option for the 2023-24 season, meaning that if he so wishes, he could opt out of his deal to sign with any other team that would.

NBA insider Marc Stein reports that Josh Hart signing an extension with the Knicks this offseason is considered “inevitable” within league circles.

The safest route is if he signs a multi-year extension with the Knicks this offseason, it would be a surprise if New York doesn’t.
