Stephen A. Smith is furious with Phil Jackson: “He should be banned from New York City”

Stephen A. Smith recently raged on his podcast at the time Phil Jackson was the president of the Knicks.

Jackson is one of the biggest picks in NBA history, but some forget that his brief tenure as GM of the New York Knicks from 2014-17 was pretty bland.

On his podcast, Smith was entertaining caller questions. A fan asked if he would pick Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra over Golden State Warriors Steve Kerr. Smith shared his thoughts on the question, saying:

“If you want to throw shade at Steve Kerr, you have to throw shade at Phil Jackson and I’m not going to throw shade at the 11-time champ. That’s Phil Jackson who won six with Chicago and five with LA. That’s Phil Jackson”, Smith said.

Smith said he can’t help but despise Jackson’s tenure as an executive with the New York Knicks. However, he has shown respect for Jackson’s success as a coach.

“Now, I despise him as an executive. He should be banned from New York City for the work he did with the Knicks, but as a coach he’s an All-Timer. There’s no denying that”.
