Porzingis can be a good option for the Knicks defense

Defensively, Porzingis is nowhere near the impact guy Robinson or even Isaiah Hartenstein. That said, he’s committed, has the length, and will be surrounded by defenders strong enough to avoid being a hindrance.

That’s not to say he’ll replace Robinson as the five in the lineup. What it will do is allow Tom Thibodeau to switch to a more attack-focused, spaced-out look with him in the center for about 20 minutes a game, then slide down one position and take Obi Toppin‘s backup for four minutes to take it to 30.
