NBA: the date of the draft has been set

The 2020 NBA Draft finally has a date set. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the NBA closed on November 18 for the 2020 Draft. The new date is nearly two months after the original draft date scheduled for October.

The 2020 NBA Draft will be virtual as the league continues to adhere to security protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic. Wojnarowski also reported that the league will look to hold medical checkups at regional facilities to allow teams to further assess the prospects.

“In what is likely to become one of the most open drafting processes of recent years, potential players would attend select regional team facilities across the country,” sources told Wojnarowski. “The plan would include team doctors who administer drugs at local hospitals and league officials who record measurable bodies and physically test players at team facilities.”

Here is the final order for the top 14 teams in the 2020 NBA Draft after last month’s lottery draw:

Minnesota Timberwolves
Golden State Warriors
Charlotte Hornets
Chicago Bulls
Cleveland Cavaliers
Atlanta Hawks
Detroit Pistons
New York Knicks
Washington Wizards
Phoenix Suns
San Antonio Spurs
Sacramento Kings
Pelicans of New Orleans
Boston Celtics (via Memphis Grizzlies)
