Kristaps Porzingis’ plans to opt in PO drawing rumblings around NBA

Washington Wizards big Kristaps Porzingis is set to opt in to his own $36 million player option for next year, and this plan is “picking up more and more buzz” according to Sportrac’s Keith Smith.

Even before the season has ended, many have already assumed that Porzingis will opt out and head to the free agency market to seize a newer, much lucrative contract for his part

As such, this changed intention by Porzingis can only be reasonable with regards to his financial security and the Wizards’ impending decision about their future as they may head towards rebuilding under new team president Michael Winger.

Shams Charania of The Athletic already revealed earlier that cornerstone Bradley Beal is willing to work for a trade with Washington should the franchise plans to hit the reset button.

In his first full campaign for D.C. in the last 2022-23 regular season, the 27-year-old Latvian star averaged a career-high 23.2 points and 49.8 percent shooting to go with 8.4 boards and 1.5 blocks in 65 games.
