Knicks unable to acquire Zach LaVine due to steep asking price

The Knicks’ efforts to acquire Bulls’ standout shooting guard, Zach LaVine, were thwarted by a formidable asking price, as reported by Fred Katz of The Athletic. Despite expressing interest in the two-time All-Star, New York and Chicago could not reach an agreement due to the significant demands from Chicago’s end.

LaVine, who showcased his scoring prowess during the 2022-23 season with an average of 24.8 points per game, remains a key player for the Bulls. The 28-year-old guard is currently under a lucrative five-year, $215 million contract that extends through the 2026-27 season, with the final year being a player option.

The Knicks’ pursuit of LaVine highlighted their ambition to bolster their roster, but the “giant” asking price ultimately kept the dynamic shooting guard in Chicago. As the offseason progresses, the Knicks will continue to explore other avenues to enhance their squad for the upcoming season.
