While the Cavs are considering signing Thompson again, the Canadian is said to be looking for a bigger offer than they are currently offering. It’s hard to believe that the traditional 29-year-old will find a suitor willing to pay him close to what he was doing last season. If Andre Drummond opts for his player option with Cleveland, the Cavs can find a cheaper alternative to Drummond for depth. They might even try to sign and trade their former lottery winnings.
The New York Knicks already have Canada well represented on their roster with RJ Barrett. I wouldn’t expect them to chase his countryman on the free agent market. The Knicks need a lot of things, but a big man who doesn’t stretch the floor isn’t one of them.
