Damian Lillard has been mentioned in trade rumors for years. The superstar point guard could actually be traded to the Portland Trail Blazers this offseason. Portland recently drafted guard Scoot Henderson third overall in the 2023 NBA draft, which could signal the end of Lillard’s tenure with the team.
NBA Analysis Network’s James Piercey engineered a trade that sends Lillard to the New York Knicks for RJ Barrett, Obi Toppin, Immanuel Quickley, and future first-round picks.
Piercey explained why the Knicks would go through with the deal despite already having a stellar point guard on the roster in Jalen Brunson:
“There is an irony here. We have Lillard walking away from one point guard – to join a team with another point guard. Only this situation is fundamentally different. Brunson is a veteran and proven NBA contributor. Lillard will not be waiting for it to develop Brunson has already arrived”.
