Knicks, Thibodeau calls RJ Barrett ‘fantastic’

RJ Barrett is preparing to take on Williamson for the first time in the regular season.

Williamson faced the Knicks in a summer championship game in Las Vegas, but injured his knee and back after nine minutes when he came in too heavy.

While Thibodeau gave Williamson his true compliments, the Knicks manager said Barrett has more than earned the hold of him as a third pick in that project.

“I love the boy we have, I know,” Thibodeau said. “RJ has had a fantastic season for us. It’s great to be around, great teammate, great to coach. He has improved every day, he gives you everything he has, he puts the team first – you can’t ask for more. And I think he has a huge advantage. “
