Knicks Could Acquire Russell Westbrook For Randle, Ntilikina, Ellington, And Draft Pick

The New York Knicks still haven’t given up on their hopes of adding a legitimate superstar to their roster. When the 2019-20 NBA season is officially over, it is expected that they will be aggressive in acquiring a talent of the caliber of All-Star who could help them return to the title contention. Free agency 2020 may not be as loaded as the previous offseason, but there are plenty of big names that are expected to be commercially available this fall.

One of the Knicks’ dream exchange goals in the 2020 offseason is All-Star point guard Russell Westbrook of the Houston Rockets. According to Jonathan Kiernan of Fansided’s Sir Charles In Charge, the Knicks could offer a package that includes Julius Randle, Frank Ntilikina, Wayne Ellington, and an unsecured 2022 first-round pick to the Rockets in exchange for Westbrook. If the proposed deal becomes a reality, Kiernan believes it would help both teams fill the needs to improve their roster.

Swapping all those players for Westbrook would undeniably be child’s play for the Knicks, especially if they want to become a more competitive team in next year’s Eastern Conference. Westbrook would greatly increase the Knicks’ offensive efficiency who are currently in 29th place in the league, scoring 103.9 points per 100 possessions, for ESPN. In addition to being a very reliable scoring option, it would also have given the Knicks an incredible rebounder and playmaker.
