Immanuel Quickley opens up after failing to sign contract extension with Knicks

The New York Knicks are ready for the 2023-24 NBA season, but before the campaign began, they had to decide whether or not they wanted to give Immanuel Quickley an extension. Quickley was eligible for a rookie extension before the start of the season, but the two sides were unable to reach an agreement , meaning the talented guard will be a restricted free agent next offseason.

Via Fred Katz:

“Immanuel Quickley: ‘At the end of the day business is still business. If both sides can’t come to an agreement, it’s nothing too crazy, but like I said, I’m focused on getting better tomorrow, getting better the next day, and it’ll be that way all year long.’”

Quickley thinks he’s ready for a big role with the Knicks once again next season, and if he continues to develop, he could make New York regret their decision to pass up an extension for him here. Quickley is betting on himself when it comes to his future contract negotiations, and it will be interesting to see which side ends up benefiting the most from this decision here.
