Donovan Mitchell’s former teammate talks about joining the Knicks

Although Donovan Mitchell has never openly stated that he wants to play for the New York Knicks since playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers, the national media has done nothing but suggest that he wants to play in New York.

After the Knicks’ game against the Orlando Magic on March 8, Joe Ingles spoke about Mitchell coming to the Knicks, according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Post.

“I think when we were talking about him coming to New York, the team wasn’t doing very well. I think the team is now – I think they’re pretty happy with the way things are going in Cleveland,” said Ingles, an Australian. “But it still wouldn’t surprise me. … He’s a New York guy. If I could play in Melbourne and earn the same amount of money, why wouldn’t you think about it?

Ingles went on to say that even when they were together with the Utah Jazz, everyone had heard the rumors about Mitchell at the Knicks.
