Brooklyn Nets have hired Steve Nash as their coach

Steve Nash is the new Brooklyn Nets coach, the team announced Thursday. Marc Stein of the New York Times first reported the hiring.

It’s a flashy and striking move that has a noticeable impact on the broad picture of the coaching market. Also note that, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Jacque Vaughn will stay with the Nets as the team’s assistant chief and become the highest-paid assistant in the NBA. Vaughn had served as Brooklyn’s acting coach since the firing of Kenny Atkinson.

This will be 46-year-old Nash’s first coaching job.
