RJ Barrett finishes 8th in the Rookie of the Year vote

RJ Barrett of the New York Knicks finished 8th in the NBA’s 2019-20 Rookie of the Year vote revealed by the league on Thursday.

Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant took home the honor of the league’s best rookie with 99 votes out of 100 in first place: preseason preseason candidate ROY Zion Williamson stole the other top vote despite only playing in 24 games . Kendrick Nunn of Miami and Brandon Clarke of Memphis completed the first four votes.

It has been a strange season for rookies as the draft order seemed to provide little indication of the first year’s performance, outside of Morant. Only half of the top voters were selected in the lottery, with Clarke enlisted at the end of the first round (21st), Eric Paschall in the second (41st), and both Nunn and Terrence Davis were not drafted.
