Walt Perrin is ideal for the Knicks project

The New York Knicks are reportedly hiring ex Utah Jazz scouting expert Walt Perrin to join their front office as deputy general manager and head of college scouting. The timing of the move is important as the Knicks try to prepare for the 2020 NBA draft after a shortened scouting season.

His arrival at the Knicks could be very positive.

For the Knicks, who have two choices for the first round, plus one choice for the second round, they need all the help they can get to prepare for the 2020 draft. Perrin understands the scouting landscape and anyone else. Working as a scout for the Minnesota Timberwolves and Detroit Pistons, before spending 19 seasons with Utah Jazz, he saw everything, tracked down everything.

Perrin brings immense knowledge to the Knicks front office. Obviously, he was doing homework for Utah before taking work in New York. In fact, a recent article talked about him using statistical technology and modeling to prepare the draft while he was stuck at home.

The Knicks should be well prepared, or as prepared as possible, given the current conditions, for the all-important 2020 draft.
