McBride joked that he tried not to look at coach Tom Thibodeau during the game for fear of being pulled. Thibodeau, however, was very complimentary of DiVincenzo and McBride during his postgame media availability.
“I think both guys hit the right times,” Thibodeau told reporters. “Deuce was terrific defensively because he gets after [Cam] Thomas, and Thomas is a liability to deal with. And then Donte, maybe it was his best game. Just timely baskets, big, big plays, fast-paced plays on defense.
Thomas led the Nets with 19 points. But he was inefficient, he shot 42.9% from the floor and was 1 of 5 from beyond the arc.
Thibodeau also complimented Knicks guard Josh Hart for his “tough plays.”
