Spike Lee rejoices for the draft but not for the choice of the Knicks

Spike Lee might be happy with the Knicks selecting Obi Toppin with pick no. 8 in the 2020 NBA Draft Wednesday night, but it wasn’t the choice he celebrated the most on Wednesday night.

The famed director was caught dancing and celebrating at Cole Anthony’s clock party when the New York-raised North Carolina star was selected by the Orlando Magic with pick number 15 in the draft.

The 20-year-old point guard, who fell in the draft after an erratic freshman season in North Carolina, will try to prove to the Knicks and 14 other teams that passed him that they made a mistake.

“I just got into this with a chip on my shoulder,” Anthony said on Zoom prior to the project. “I’m not in an ideal position, but all my dreams, all my goals are still ahead of me.”
