The news that the New York Knicks traded RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley to the Toronto Raptors for OG Anunoby was shocking. Reports had previously indicated that the Knicks were interested in Anunoby, but that was not expected to happen on Dec. 30, 2023.
Even Barrett was surprised to have to pack his bags and head to Toronto, Canada, his hometown. In a recent interview with Andscape’s Marc J. Spears, Barrett talked about finding out he was being traded.
“I had no idea. I just got the call when it happened. I thought, “What’s going on?” ” Barrett recently told Andscape. “I was so confused. I hadn’t foreseen it. When he told me about the Raptors, I thought, ‘OK, at least I’m going home.’ “
Shocking for fans, and even more shocking for the former No. 1 pick. 3 by the Knicks in the 2019 NBA Draft.
