After decades of setbacks and poor basketball decisions, the New York Knicks are finally a legitimate playoff contender.
The Knicks have been one of the most entertaining stories of the 2023-24 NBA season as they have a tough roster full of gritty players under coach Tom Thibodeau.
Leading the way is Jalen Brunson who made his first All-Star Game this season after being snubbed last year.
Brunson’s presence has stabilized the Knicks on both ends of the court and makes them look like a dangerous postseason team that no other team should want to play.
The point guard has breathed new life into New York basketball like it hasn’t seen since Patrick Ewing dominated the league.
Recently, Ewing spoke about his relationship with Brunson via New York Basketball.
“I’ve known him since he was 2 years old…He wouldn’t leave my locker…I took the Knicks to Jamaica one summer…My daughter sent a picture of her and him…I sent it to Rick [Brunson]…something great,” Ewing said.
Jalen’s father, Rick Brunson, was a teammate of Ewing’s, so the star guard is quite familiar with the legendary Knicks center.
It seems like the two have stayed in touch and it’s fun for fans to see the past and present of the franchise have a close relationship.
