Tyrese Haliburton provided one of the best assists of his career on Saturday, recreating a famous Kobe Bryant moment.
During the third quarter of the Indiana Pacers’ 125–111 road victory over the New York Knicks, Haliburton lofted the ball toward himself off the backboard and then found Pascal Siakam in the corner for the assist. After the game, Haliburton revealed to ESPN that he was thinking about it at the start of the game and that he had never been able to execute the backboard pass before.
“I’ve never done this before,” Haliburton said. “You see so many guys in the NBA trying [to make plays off the board]. I would have liked to try it in the first half, a little off the right position, but it was at a bit of an odd angle. During transition, it looked like there was a lot of space in the paint. So yeah, I’m just playing basketball and having fun”
