Mikal Bridges was expecting the call from the Knicks

The Brooklyn Nets’ Mikal Bridges recently spoke about his draft day experience on the Tidal League Podcast, admitting that not only did he think the Knicks would get him, but that New York was also his favorite destination.

“I thought I was going to New York at 9,” Bridges said. “I was excited though because I wanted to go to the Knicks, I wanted to be in New York, I’m like it’s lit — like, kinda close to home, but a little further away — and I love MSG, all my best games in college they were there”

However, the Knicks ended up going in a different direction, getting Knox instead of the Villanova product. Knox, who was drafted by Kentucky, was an unpopular pick, with Knicks fans booing the forward at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center after hearing his name selected. He has disappointed during his tenure in New York.
