Knicks reportedly unlikely to pick-up Bobby Portis team option

The New York Knicks will build their roster around RJ Barrett and Mitchell Robinson. As a result, Bobby Portis is not fit to the team’s timeline.

As reported from Ian Begley of the SNY , New York is unlikely to pick-up the $15.75 million team option in the contract of the scoring forward Bobby Portis for the 2020-21 NBA season.

The Knicks crowded front-court this season led Portis in a mediocre season production in points and rebounds.

The University of Arkansas product averaged 10.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists while shooting 45 percent from the field in 66 appearances this year with him coming from the bench.

The former Wizards “big” is going to become an unrestricted free agent, if the Knicks decide to not pick his option.
