Knicks leaning against Cole Anthony early in draft

The New York Post reported last week that the Knicks are “leaning” on getting local Cole Anthony product within the first half of the project. It’s important to segment the first round in this way because the specific language in the report was in reference to New York’s preference for Anthony with their eighth overall pick or if they swapped in the 14-15 range.

In response to that report, Charlotte Observer’s Rick Bonnell noted that he is feeling that Anthony will likely go in the 1920s. Others have suggested that the North Carolina guard might drop until the second round begins.

What does all this mean? Well, it’s speculative to start. No one knows where a player will end up in the draft, and preferences are often fluid until the big night.

Could this mean that the Knicks don’t like Anthony at all? It’s possible. SNY reported earlier this summer that New York did its “homework” on point guard. This doesn’t necessarily mean they did it because they decided to select it. You would hope they did their homework on all prospects within the first two shifts.
