Knicks, Julius Randle blocks Obi Toppin’s extension

Obi Toppin is eligible for a contract extension before the start of next season. The Knicks must decide what to do with him who just finished his third season in the NBA.

Toppin found less playing time than the previous season. Julius Randle has taken away Toppin’s space and the All-Star will hardly leave New York. Furthermore, Randle himself will earn over $30 million in 2024-2025. Confirming Toppin would mean the Knicks investing at least $40 million.

Toppin will enter Summer 2024 as a limited free agent, allowing him to find other suitors. Toppin can most likely be traded this summer, that’s a reality.
