Knicks interested in Chris Paul but New York should focus on young players

Having earned a reputation for trading first round picks for practically nothing, the Knicks have finally made several consecutive lottery selections, dating back to 2017. As of now, it looks like they will pick the lottery again this year, owning the eighth overall pick after another disappointing result in the standings.

However, things can change until the night draft. The Knicks are said to be interested in future Hall-of-Fame point guard Chris Paul with some speculators that New York could part ways with their lottery win in a deal to get Paul to the Big Apple.

While trading for Paul has merits, including a lottery in a deal to absorb his huge paycheck seems a little too much, if not insane.

Leon Rose spent the off-season building his scouting and development department. He hired scouting guru Walt Perrin away from Utah. He has also added several additional professional explorers to his ranks. Rose decided to hire assistant coaches under Tom Thibodeau, known for developing young talent. Further hiring of development personnel is planned.

With three selections in the upcoming draft, Rose should rely on her new staff to identify the best talent available. Based on a spectacular track story, Walt Perrin should have as many opportunities as possible to help the Knicks find a stolen night shot.
