The New York Knicks are turning the page. After parting ways with Tom Thibodeau despite their deepest playoff run since 2000, the franchise is officially entering a new era with Mike Brown as head coach — and Karl-Anthony Townscouldn’t be more excited.

A Fresh Start in New York

Thibodeau guided the Knicks back to relevance and helped deliver an Eastern Conference Finals appearance last season, but the front office believed a new voice was needed to push the roster toward title contention. Enter Mike Brown, a seasoned coach with championship pedigree and a reputation for strong locker-room leadership.

For Towns, the transition is already off to a promising start.

Towns on First Meeting With Mike Brown

Speaking on the 7PM in Brooklyn podcast, Towns revealed he had just finished a two-hour dinner with Brown before the interview — their very first real conversation.

“I just came from having a two-hour dinner with Mike Brown to here. We never actually had a conversation with each other. So, that was the first time we actually met. We actually got to speak, talk about the team, you know, get to actually know each other,” Towns explained.

The Knicks’ star big man emphasized the importance of building trust and unity if the team wants to reach the mountaintop.

“When you get into this, we have a chance to win a championship and it’s only going to really happen if everyone’s connected and everyone has to be fully invested into each other and into our goals,” he continued. “So, kind of just really getting to know him, his people, the way he likes to play basketball, the way he wants to coach, the way he wants to operate practices and everything.”

Knicks Eyeing the Next Step

With Jalen BrunsonMikal BridgesOG Anunoby, and Towns forming the core, expectations in New York are sky-high. The Knicks’ front office believes that with Brown’s leadership and Towns’ continued growth, the franchise can take the final leap from contender to true championship threat.

The East may be wide open, and Towns is making it clear: this new era is about one thing only — winning it all.
