ESPN forced to apologize after the embarrassment in Game-1

Game-1 between the Knicks and the Heat was a very embarrassing moment for ESPN and ABC. Some probably thought they were reliving the great duels of the 90s, as can be seen from the promotional video broadcast during the interval:

The edited clip was to showcase the sights of New York City as the Series began in the Big Apple. With great bitterness, however, images are shown of a view that New York can no longer offer. Showing the Statue of Liberty, in the distance you can clearly see the World Trade Center towers that were torn down in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

In a statement released to several outlets, including the New York Post, an ESPN rep released a statement in which he largely denied the error.

“We mistakenly used an older stock image and we apologize,” the rep said in a statement.
