The Hawks are reportedly looking for at least one high lottery pick for Collins. The Knicks potentially have two lottery picks in the 2021 draft: theirs and Dallas’ pick. However, the Knicks are currently in the playoff position at number 7 and Dallas is on the rise.
Perhaps an offer of one of their two first-round picks plus Ntilikina might be tempting, but the Knicks would need to be comfortable with Collins and Randle as a small-ball frontcourt tandem.
Collins and Ntilikina have almost the same salaries, but the French point guard is out of the Knicks rotation.
The Hawks have been accused of being a major threat to the playoffs after a strong offseason in which they signed former Knicks lottery winner Danilo Gallinari, Bogdan Bogdanovic and point guard Rajon Rondo. But they took the Garden field 11-15, after losing six of the previous seven games.
