Xavier McDaniel silences Charles Oakley’s complaints about Patrick Ewing

Patrick Ewing is synonymous with New York Knicks basketball. Even though he ultimately failed to lead the Knicks to the title, Ewing is still one of the most popular players in franchise history. However, he apparently wasn’t that popular among his teammates, with Charles Oakley coming out and lashing out at Ewing on several occasions in recent years. While Oakley may not have enjoyed playing with Patrick, another of his former teammates, Xavier McDaniel, defended the Knicks legend.

“Patrick, I don’t think he was a high-maintenance guy… Oak was never a high scorer. Oak would miss an open layup, let’s be honest. At times, he was wide open and missing layups. I don’t know what to say, and I’m not trying to say anything against either of them… I’m not trying to throw either of them under the bus. I had a great year with Patrick,” Xavier McDaniel said on Knicks Fan TV.
