Wizards, Porzingis: “I’ll do what it takes to just win”

Last season before the trade deadline the Mavericks made a bold move by trading Kristaps Porzingis to the Wizards.

The 27-year-old Latvian forward saw his statistics improve in Washington as he averaged 22.1 points, 8.8 rebounds and 2.9 assists over 17 games.

During a media day interview Porzingis shared his thoughts on playing in the Eastern Conference and how he fits on the team. “Honestly I think Eastern teams have it easier most of the teams have it easier for travel,” he said.

“Everything’s closer. For me in terms of my life, I’m more comfortable on the East Coast also because there’s smaller time difference between here and back home – only seven hours, where for example if I’m in L.A. it’s 10 hours. So whenever I’m up everybody’s back at home sleeping.

“So that and also just obviously the most important part to fit the basketball. I think I’m a great fit next to Brad and Kuz. As I said, I’m here to help, here to help win games. I want to win. I’m going to do what’s necessary to win and that’s it. I’m looking forward to tis year. I’m looking forward to exceeding expectations and making some noise.”
