Trade Offer: Knicks Receive $48 Million From Former NBA Champion

The New York Knicks are looking for a replacement for Isaiah Hartenstein. One option they may consider is Milwaukee Bucks center Brook Lopez, according to SNY’s David Vertsberger.

In a July 24 article, Vertsberger proposed a trade between the Knicks and Bucks that would have brought Lopez to New York.

Knicks receive: Lopez

Bucks receive: Miles McBride , Precious Achiuwa

Vertsberger described Lopez as a “center whose talent helps make up for the loss of Hartenstein. … Lopez brings a new look from the No. 5 spot that New York hasn’t seen before.

“At 36, Lopez is still a solid defender, and while his rebounding numbers aren’t great, he does a good job of creating opportunities for others to rebound. He’s also a 35.4 percent three-point shooter on five attempts per game over the last six seasons in Milwaukee, providing some space at the point that the Knicks haven’t had up to this point, which can open up a lot on offense for Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle.”

Lopez won a title with the Bucks in 2021 and will enter the second year of a two-year, $48 million deal. He also made an All-Star team in 2013, while playing for the Brooklyn Nets.
