Tom Thibodeau on RJ Barrett: “Obviously, there’s a lot of work to be done”

Tom Thibodeau likes what he has seen from RJ Barrett so far, after the New York Knicks started their offseason bubble training camp.

As resported by SNY”s Ian Begley:

“It’s been great,” Thibodeau said when asked about Barrett. “Obviously, there’s a lot of work to be done. These are the initial steps. The offseason is critical for any young player. So obviously you can get going on the development piece, which I think is critical. That holds true for all our players. But he’s been great, eager, he’s working hard. If he does that day after day he will improve quite a bit.”

Barrett was excluded from the 2019-20 All-Rookie teams, despite averaging 14.3 points, five rebounds and two assists.

The New York Knicks had one of the worst records in the league, while the Canadian was shooting just 40 percent from the field and 32 percent from downtown.

Some Knicks players have been working with coaches for the past six weeks, but they worked in a formal practice setting for the first time on Wednesday, per Ian Begley.
