The reasons why Dejounte Murray would be a good fit for the Knicks

The Atlanta Hawks are 13-19 entering the new year, only further away from making an upset run to the 2021 Eastern Conference Finals than they were before the regular season began. After replacing Nate McMillan on the sidelines with Quin Snyder midway through the disappointing 2022-23 season, could other major structural changes loom for Atlanta leading up to the Feb. 8 trade deadline?

Moving Dejounte Murray is the most likely such move for Atlanta, and a couple of potential trade partners have emerged as betting favorites to land him. The Los Angeles Lakers are -115 odds of trading for Murray before the deadline comes and goes, according to Bovada Sportsbook, easily the highest among his potential suitors. The New York Knicks, after weakening their backcourt depth to acquire OG Anunoby from the Toronto Raptors, come in next with odds of +105. No other team has odds better than +950 to trade for Murray before February 8th.
