The proposed trade resulted in the Knicks getting the Warriors $22 million for the three-time NBA champion

The New York Knicks have had one of the most exciting offseasons of any NBA team. Could there be more moves coming for the Knicks?

SNY.TV’s David Vertsberger has compiled a list of five possible trades that would help the Knicks secure a new center after the Knicks lost Isaiah Hartenstein to the Oklahoma City Thunder in free agency.

One of the more intriguing trade proposals is the Knicks sending forward Precious Achiuwa and future draft picks to the Golden State Warriors in exchange for center Kevin Looney. One important note: such a deal would have to be a sign-and-trade or midseason deal because Achiuwa remains a free agent. However, Looney’s fit with the Knicks would make sense, even if the logistics of the trade would need to be tweaked.

“The Warriors are unlikely to be sellers in this market, but trading to the Knicks could give them extra ammunition to pursue one of their biggest goals,” Vertsberger wrote in a July 24, 2024, article titled “5 Potential Knicks Center Trades Ahead of the 2024-25 NBA Season.”

“Looney is a better fit for New York as a starting five than Achiuwa, and Golden State can utilize both him and the picks for next season.”
