The Knicks’ sharpshooter could prove to be a winning weapon off the bench in the 2024-25 season

The New York Knicks have one of the deepest rotations in the NBA and will have starting-caliber players coming off the bench now that Mikal Bridges is part of the mix along with injured players returning. In particular, Donte DiVincenzo could be the team’s secret weapon off the second unit after having a stellar season last year.

DiVincenzo became the team’s starting shooting guard after outclassing Quentin Grimes in the early part of the season, and he stuck with that role for the rest of the season. His usage increased dramatically after injuries to Julius Randle and OG Anunoby, averaging 21 points per game and shooting 38% from three in his final 35 games of the regular season.

Overall, last season was the best of his entire career, as he averaged 15.5 points in 81 games and finished behind only Luka Doncic and Steph Curry for most three-pointers made with 267. His improved performance now gives the Knicks another bargain on their books, as his four-year, $46 million deal now looks to be one of the league’s most affordable contracts.
