The Knicks reject draft interviews, focusing on coaching research in July

The Knicks front office made it clear that finding their next coach is top priority after interrupting an NBA League conference call to interview candidates Will Hardy and Jason Kidd on Thursday.

But the front office is apparently so focused on coaching research that they have no plans to conduct more draft interviews this month, according to Mike Vorkunov.

The front office has already interviewed some drafts of potential customers, including French flagship guard Killian Hayes and JUCO guard Jay Scrubb.

In a normal year, the project would have already taken place and we would have been full of enthusiasm for the Summer League. Unfortunately, the draft will not take place until it annoys me in October this year. So it doesn’t make much sense to go all out with the scouting draft in July. (NOTE: although it won’t stop me from watching the same highlight video as Devin Vassell 10 times on YouTube.)

For Marc Berman, the front office would prefer to open the training camp next season (when that will be) before the 22 playoff bubble teams, so that anyone making a draw in October can get extra reps with the current Knicks. It seems legit.
