The Knicks president once again refuses to speak to the media

For a long time, the New York Knicks were seen as one of the laughingstocks of the NBA. That narrative seemed to change once Leon Rose arrived in town. On March 2, 2020, the now 63-year-old was named team president of the Knicks. He had the difficult task of conquering a franchise that had missed the playoffs in each of the previous seven seasons.

Since Rose came aboard, New York has made the postseason in three of four seasons. They have advanced to the second round of the playoffs in each of the last two years. They hadn’t succeeded since 1999 and 2000. Despite the team’s vast improvement, many Knicks fans may not recognize the man or his voice as Rose remained in the background.

One thing has remained constant throughout Rose’s tenure. He did not devote time to the media. Many teams allow the media to speak to the front office at the end of the season, but Rose and the Knicks have decided not to do so.

Given his history with the team, the decision cannot be seen as unexpected. Some believe they deserve to feel like Rose and the team are paying customers. To others he is more okay with it, especially since the Knicks have won many more victories lately. New York made many impactful moves to improve the roster during Rose’s time.
