Derrick Rose has a team option with the New York Knicks next season and it looks like the former NBA MVP will become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News said on “The HoopsHype Podcast” that the Knicks will not accept Rose’s team option.
“Obviously, they’re not going to take that team option,” Bondy said. “And he’s about to achieve free will.”
Rose’s team option for next season is worth $15.6 million. The three-time All-Star dropped out of the Knicks’ rotation this season, so it makes sense for New York to part ways with Rose.
