Soon after the arrival of Karl-Anthony Towns, the New York Knicks reportedly began receiving calls about Mitchell Robinson, their 6-foot-4 player who is currently recovering from an ankle injury and lost his starting job to Towns.
According to Jakoba Reynolds of Sports Illustrated , the Los Angeles Lakers are among the teams that have checked in on Robinson.
“Surprisingly, the Los Angeles Lakers have called the Knicks about Mitchell Robinson, with the conversation primarily centered around Christian Wood and Gabe Vincent,” Reynolds wrote on X. “No deal has been reached and there has been no recent contact with either team, according to sources.”
Reynolds also noted in a Medium article that the New Orleans Pelicans are among the teams that have called Robinson. He added that those calls have centered around a deal that could see forward Trey Murphy head to New York in exchange for Robinson.
“There has been an increase in communication between the Knicks and the Pelicans in just the last 12 hours or so, according to league sources,” Reynolds wrote. “It appears the Pelicans are desperately trying to get an agreement on this deal.”
