Sharpshooter Donte DiVincenzo became just the fourth New York Knicks player to top 200 three-pointers in a single season on Friday night against the Orlando Magic.
DiVincenzo joins John Starks (217), Julius Randle (218) and Evan Fournier (241) as the only Knicks to accomplish the feat. Plus, he’s on pace to pass Fournier for franchise scoring before the end of the season.
During a banner year for DiVincenzo, he emerged as one of the NBA’s most dangerous outside threats. He has already surpassed his previous season high in three-pointers made (150), entering Friday night ranked third in the league (197), behind only Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks (216) and Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors (290).
With more hits coming from beyond the arc, DiVincenzo’s confidence is through the roof. He’s been hitting threes at a historic pace recently. In the previous 15 games, he attempted 196 three-pointers (made 75). According to OptaStats, only Curry and James Harden have recorded more in the same period in NBA history.
Aside from his recognition, DiVincenzo didn’t contribute much to the Knicks’ 98-74 win over the Magic on Friday night. He recorded 11 points, with all three of his made baskets coming from three-pointers.
